Memorial Services Held for Deceased I.O.O.F. Members
Memorial Services for four members of the Clearfield Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows were conducted in the lodge rooms here Tuesday night by members of the I.O.O.F. and the Lady Hills Rebekah Lodge.  Tribute to the memory of Charles E. Hoffman, Nin McQuillen, Charles W. Peters, and N. Groff Stewart, who died during the past year, was paid through a special memorial service featuring a talk by W. Albert Ramey, local attorney.  Mr. Ramey urged the lodge members to build a living memorial to their deceased members by living a life for Christ.  "Man is of no value without God," he emphasized.  The roll call of the deceased members preceded Mr. Ramey's talk and was made by R.W. McDowell.  As the member's name was called, Mrs. June Bracken of the Lady Hills Rebekahs, placed a white carnation on his vacant chair.  Music during the program included signing of "Bless Be The Tie That Binds;" "The Lord's Prayer," sung by Mrs. June Livingston; and a vocal quartet number "He Hideth My Soul," by Mrs. Livingston, Miss Della Ogden, H.W. Jury, and Ralph Barton.  Mrs. Marguarite Wilson presided at the piano.  Alva C. Brothers read the scripture for the memorial services while Rev. E. Roy House, D.D., asked the invocation and pronounced the benediction.  These annual memorial services are held jointly by the Clearfield I.O.O.F. Lodge and the Lady Hills Rebekahs for members of both lodges who died within the year. During the past year, the Rebekahs lost none of their members through death.

WOODLAND - Charles William Peters, 68, of Woodland died very suddenly Wednesday morning at 1:30 at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.  He was a member of the Woodland E.U.B. church, the Bradford Grange and the Clearfield Lodge I.O.O.F.  Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Ethel E. Peters, of Woodland and the following children:  Marvin L. of Clearfield; Fred R., John, Boyd and Donald all of Woodland; and Calvin C. with the U.S. Army in Korea.  Other survivors are five grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. A.G. Peters of Woodland; one brother Ahsley D. Peters of Woodland; and two sisters, Mrs. Hallie Beish of Clearfield and Mrs. Edith Knepp of Bay City, Mich.  Funeral services will be held from the residence at Woodland Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Hubert Boles in charge.  Burial will be in the Bradford cemetery.  Friends may call at the residence Friday evening and until time of services on Sunday.
