Councilman C.F. Peters Dies at 72 - Charles F. Peters, borough councilman from Second Ward and retired Harbison-Walker employee, died at the Clearfield Hospital at  6 a.m. Sunday following a long illness.  He was 72.  Mr. Peters retired three years ago after completing 60 years of service with Harbison-Walker Refractories Company.  At the time of his retirement he was district superintendent of the companys coal and clay mines in Pennsylvania., Maryland, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.  He was appointed to that position in 1918 as successor to Nin McQuillen.  He began his long career with the company at the age of nine as a press boy at the Woodland and Clearfield plants.  His term of service also included 16 years from 1902 to   (page 2)  1918, at Farrandsville and Mill Hall, Clinton County, as foreman and district foreman.  In December of this year Mr. Peters would have completed his 12th years as borough councilman from the Second Ward.  He served two consecutive terms and one separate four-year term in that office.  He was not a candidate for re-election this year.  The deceased was born in DuBois on Jul 27, 1877, a son of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Peters.  On May 30, 1900, he married Pearl McQuillen of Clearfield who preceded him in death in 1944.  Surviving him are three daughters and one son: Miss Amy Peters and Mrs. Fred Cochrane of Clearfield, Miss Barbara Peters of Berlin, Pa., Somerset County, and Robert of Oakland, Nebraska.  One sister and four brothers also survive.  They are Mrs. Bessie Pyles of Mount Union; Howard of Clearfield; Clyde and Earl of Woodland and Jacob of Wallaceton.  One sister Ada and two brothers, Ollie and Ralph preceded him in death.  Mr. Peters was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church, the Clearfield lodge of Odd Fellows for 47 years, the Free and Accepted Order of Masons of Clearfield, the Williamsport Consistory and the local Rotary Club.  Funeral services will be held from his home 608 South Second street Wednesday at 3 p.m. in charge of Rev. R.R. Croyle.  Graveside services at Hillcrest Cemetery will be conducted by the local Masons.  Friends may call at his home tonight, Tuesday and until time of services Wednesday.
