DEATH OF VALENTINE ROWLES OF WOODLAND - Valentine Rowles, a highly respected citizen of Mineral Spring, died about three o'clock Sunday morning December 30th, 1923, in the Punxsutawney hospital.  Mr. Rowles was aged 66 years, nine months and 19 days.  His parents were Mr. and Mrs. William Rowles.  He was born at Sanborn but resided in Woodland for a number of years.  He was a pensioner of H. and W. Refractories Company for long and faithful service rendered.  Surviving him are his wife and the following children:  Mrs. Lillly Johnson, of Punxsutawney; Mrs. Alice Kling of Tyrone; Mrs. Ethel Patton, of Detroit, Mich.; Elmer of Bigler and Mrs. Bessie Peters, Lloyd, William, Charles, Scott, George, Walton and Jeanette, of Mineral Spring.  Three brothers and two sisters also survive.  Funeral services will be held at his late home in Mineral Spring on Wednesday afternoon, with burial in Bradford cemetery.  Mr. Rowles had been ill for more than two years and met his death in a fall from a second story window at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Thompson, by a former marriage.  A hard and steady worker, Mr. Rowles earned the respect and esteem of his fellow men.  He was a stable boss at the H.W. Co. works at Woodland for a long term of years.

Mrs. Bessie Peters held a dance at her home on Saturday night.  The music was funished by Carl and Ardell Kyler and Red Knepp.  They danced until a late hour when Mrs. Peters treated them all to a sauerkraut supper.

SCOTT W. ROWLES - WOODLAND - Scott W. Rowles, 52, well known Woodland resident, died Wednesday morning at 1:00 o'clock.  He was a member of the Philipsburg Moose and the Elks lodge of Clearfield.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha Rowles of Woodland; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Finnigan of Philipsburg; and two grandsons.  Also surviving him are the following brothers and sisters:  Charles Rowles, and Mrs. Bessie Peters of Clearfield; Mrs. Ethel Witherell, Detroit, Mich.; George Rowles and Mrs. Jeannette Casher, Mineral Springs; and Walton Rowles, Detroit, Mich.  Funeral services will be held from the Woodland E.U.B. church Saturday afternoon at 2;30 with Rev. Hubert Boles officiating.  Burial will be in the Bradford cemetery.  Friends may call at the Leavy Funeral Home after 7:00 Thursday evening and until 10:00 Saturday morning.  Friends will be received at the E.U. B. church at Woodland from noon Saturday until time of services at 2:30.

MRS. ETHEL WETHERELL - DETROIT, Mich. - Mrs. Ethel Rowles Wetherell, a native of Mineral Springs, Pa., died at her home here March 26 at the age of 65.  Born at Mineral Springs, June 17, 1901, she was a daughter of the late Valentine and Ida (Lingle) Rowles.  Her husband, Robert Wetherell preceded her in death Oct 16, 1965.  She is survived by one step-son, Robert Wetherell Jr., and two step-grandchildren all of Detroit.  These brothes and sisters also survive:  Mrs. Bessie Peters, Clearfield; Mrs. Hiillery (Jeanette) Casher and George Rowles, Mineral Springs; and Walton Rowles, Detroit.  Interment was in the Forest Lawn Cemetery at Detroit Thursday March 30.
