                   Information below provided Mar 2003 by John Corrigan of New Jersery.  He discovered this information while conducting his own Corrigan family research.  His family and ours is apparently not related however.
"This information is found on an Internet site relateing to Scots in Chicago who were members of the St. Andrew's Society.  Duncan MacMarten was a physician/surgeon and was a member of the Illinois St. Andrew's Society from 1893 and was a member as of 1910.  He was born in 1862 in Martintown, Ontario, Canada, the son of Duncan MacMartin and Mary MacArthur-MacMartin.  he graduated as a doctor from McGill College in Montreal, Canada, in 1888.  He married Laura Mae Whitrock of Stevens point, Wisconsin in 1907.  He practiced medicine and surgery at Toronto from 1888 to 1889 and in Chicago, Illinois since 1889.  He was an associate professor of surgery at Chicago Polyclinic since 1898; an associate surgeon at St. Luke's Hosptial since 1909 and Henrotin Hospital since it opened.  He was a republican. He was a Presbyterian.  He was a member of the following clubs:  Union League, Chicago Athletic and the Chicago Yacht. His residence was at the Great Northern Hotel and his office was at 20 West Jackson Boulevard."
