Individual confirmed Feb 2003, as father of George W. Sandoe via Eberhardt-Sandoe family bible in the possession of Susan Braucher, daughter of Thurman Jester, son of Ethel Johnson Jester, daughter of Nancy Jane "Jennie" (Sandoe) Johnson who was a daughter of George & Elizabeth (Eberhardt) Sandoe.

The data was on a piece of paper. Susan also noted that Agnes (Sandoe) Stauffer died in 1888 at age 32 years, 9 months. Also that "Grandpa Sandoe" who would be George W. Sandoe had an uncle named William H. Sandoe who was killed in the battle of Cold Harlain, Virginia in June 1864.

Individual confirmed Feb 2003, as father of George W. Sandoe via Eberhardt-Sandoe family bible in the possession of Susan Braucher, daughter of Thurman Jester, son of Ethel Johnson Jester, daughter of Nancy Jane "Jennie" (Sandoe) Johnson who was a daughter of George & Helen (Eberhardt) Sandoe.

A piece of paper was found in the bible that recorded the following:

" Rev. Wm. B. Sandoe - born 1815 died 1890. His wife (don't have her name) was born in 1817 and died in 1909 at Canton, Ohio. They were Grandpa Sandoe's parents. Grandpa's sister Agnes Stauffer died in 1888 aged 32 yr. 9mo. Grandpa Sandoe's uncle William H. was killed in battle of Cold Harlain, Virginia in June 1864. "

Suspect that this note was written by Nancy "Jennie" Sandoe Johnson as she seems to be the last one who recorded information in the bible. Grandpa Sandoe mentioned above would then be George W. Sandoe. We know from George's death certificate that William B. Sandoe is his father. Not sure if note means he had an Uncle William H. Sandoe, as his father's name was William B. Sandoe, so that seems unlikely. Perhaps he had an Uncle William H. Allvord. Research on the internet at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ne/county/gage/books/senebios/0045.htm found a William H. Allvord, but he survived the Civil War. Interestingly, he eventually settled in Nebraska a state where some Sandoe's also settled. This bio on this William Allvord noted his parents as George Allvord and Mary Shumper who had six sons and five daughters. It notes that five of the sons: H. Fred, David, William H., George and Jacob served in the Civil War and then stated that three were wounded, David, William H. and Jacob, and that those three returned home to their family. It does not mention the other two, H. Fred and George - if we find one of those two died in the Battle of Cold Harlain, Virginia then we probably have Nancy's family. This William H. Allvord is also found on the 1880 census for Highland, Gage, NE with wife Martha and daugther Mary, age 16. The bio includes another daughter Sarah.

An Internet search of WB Sandoe will also bring up several instances where he is listed as the Reverend who performed a couple's marriage ceremony.

An Internet search will also bring up "History of the Church of God" reference to several Sandoe ministers, William B., and his son Henry H. and another George Sandoe who is perhaps a brother or cousin of William B. Sandoe.

There are three Sandoe ministers noted in the "History of the Church of God" found easily on the Internet. They are George Sandoe, WB Sandoe and HH Sandoe. A biography for H.H. Sandoe was found on the Internet and it notes that he was born Dec 1841 in Schuylkill Co., PA. The family of George W. Sandoe had always had his birthplace as Shenandoah, Schuylkill Co., PA, which would seem to match his older brother, H.H. Sandoe's, biography. Unfortunately, correspondence from the Schuylkill County Historical Society revealed that "Shenandoah" did not exist until 1870, nearly 30 years after H.H. Sandoe and George W. Sandoe were born. A search of the earlier townships revealed no Sandoe's in any of their records. The Sandoe ministers noted in the "History of the Church of God" were recorded as having been in Butler County, PA, Medina County, OH and Wooster, OH - all cities associated with our branch of the Sandoe family.
