Lansberry. -- The Children Individual's obituary found in the Clearfield Progress, Clearfield Co., PA, 8 Jan 1934: George W. Lansberry, formerly of Woodland, where he spent nearly all of his life, died at the home of his son, George at New Cumberland, West Virginia, January 5th, 1934. His body was brought to the home of his son, Wesley, 803 South Third Street, today and funeral services will be held at the United Brethren Church of Clearfield on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Mr. Lansberry has lived with his son in West Virginia for about three years. His wife preceded him to the grave about 7 years ago. Well and favorably known his passing will be learned with sorrow by his old friends and neighbors. He was a member of the O.U.A.M., and was 76 years 10 months and 19 days of age. LANSBERRY - MINERAL SPRINGS - Funeral services for David Edgar Lansberry, 73, of Mineral Springs will be held from the Woodland Methodist Church Sunday afternoon, May 19 at 2:30 o'clock instead of 2 o'clock as was previously announced. Mr. Lansberry died Wednesday morning at 6:20 o'clock in the Clearfield Hospital following an extended illness. Friends will be received at the Leavy Funeral Home at 7 p.m. tonight; tomorrow afternoon and evening and at the church Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of service. Obituary for David Edgar Lansberry - Clearfield Progress 16 May 1957: Mineral Springs - David Edgar Lansberry, 73, of Mineral Springs, died Wednesday morning at 6:20 o'clock in the Clearfield Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Bradford Township Nov. 15, 1883, a son of the late George and Amanda (Young) Lansberry. He was a member of the Woodland Methodist Church. Mr. Lansberry is survived by these sons and daugthers: Earl Lansberry, Clearfield; Raymond Lansberry and Mrs. Alice Peters, Beaver Falls; Clair Lansberry and David Lee Lansberry, Mineral Springs; Mrs. Margaret Hadaway and Mrs. Pauline Straw, Orangeville, Calif; Mrs. Erma Shimmell, Philipsburg; Robert Lansberry, Arizona and Sgt. Albert Lansberry, Fort Bragg, NC. Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Mary Lumadue, West Decatur; a brother, Clarence Lansberry, Connellsville, Pa.; 44 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Mr. Lansberry's wife, Blanche, and two children, Cpl. George Lansberry and Miss Geraldine Lansberry, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held from the Woodland Methodist Church Sunday afternoon, May 19, at 2 o'clock with the Rev. William Starr officiating. Burial wil be in the Bradford Cemetery. Mr. David Lansberry of Mineral Springs has five sons and five grandsons doing their best for their Uncle Sam. In a recent letter home one of the five sons, Marl G. Lansberry, told of his promotion to the rating of Motor Machinist's mate first class. Lansberry is serving aboard an LCI somewhere in the Philippines. Also in the Philippines is Sgt. George Lansberry, one of his four brothers. Sgt. Lansberry is a holder of the expert infantry combat medal. S/Sgt Robert Lansberry is now an instructor at an air field in Las Vegas, Nevada. He returned from active oversees duty last June after completing a specified number of missions over enemy occupied Europe. He is a holder of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and three oak leaf clusters and the Presidential Unit citation. Clair Lansberry, seaman, second Class is now in Florida, and Pvt. Albert Lansberry is overseas, but his present location is unknown. He underwent basic training at Camp Croft, SC and was stationed for a short time at Fort Meade, MD before embarkation. He holds a certificate designating him as an expert rifleman. The five grandsons are: Sgt. Donald Lansberry in France, Theodore Lansberry, a seaman in the Pacific, both sons of Mr. & Mrs. Earl Lansberry of Clearfield; Sgt. William Lansberry, now in a hospital in England, and Raymond Lansberry, seaman, first class in the Pacific, sons of Mr. & Mrs. Raymond Lansberry of Beaver Falls; and Richard Lansberry, seaman, first class, son of seaman, second class, Clair Lansberry.
