William Alexander LANSBERRY

                   May have divorced 1st wife this additional information obtained Jan 2003 from Mary Kapaun hkapaun@comcast.net.  She is descended from William Alexander Lansberry and said that the family story was that Sophia suffered from depression and that was apparently the reason for the divorce. The family is assuming that is what happened because Sophia was still alive when William married Mary Whitton.  Christine (Carr) Modzel reported that Sophia lived with Christine's grandmother, Sarah Woolridge Greene.  Sarah apparently told Christine that Sophia was a sweet woman and that she suffered from what we today would call post-partum depression and that she lost a child who was very young.  By the 1880 census, Sophia and William's second child, Wesley, was living with his father, William and step-mother, Mary Whitton.
