Mr. Stockton visited his grave at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, a few years ago. So, being fatherless, he learned self reliance as he grew up with primitive equipment of this community. He farmed most of his life. His record for industry, sobriety, honesty and courage has never been questioned successfully, if at all. Sam Stockton's was as good as his bond. Of splendid physique, he endured past all expectations until recent months. He and his family belonged to the Prairie Ridge Christian Union Church.
