HISTORY OF WASHINGTON CO., PA, PG 120 (NO DATE);" Thomas C.M. Stockton was
    born May 30, 1832. He was a close student from early boyhood, and at the age
    of 12 years entered the Cross Creek Academy, afterward taking a course at
    Washington College. After his graduation the young man returned home and
    taught in Cross Creek Academy for 6 or 7 years and then one year in Muskingum
    College. In 1862 he began the study of medicine under Dr. Dickson, of
    Pittsburgh, with who he remained one year, afterward attending one year at
    Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. At this time, the war of the
    Rebellion being in progress, he joined the Union army as assistant surgeon of
    the 83rd (I do not have pg 121 )

    Thomas graduated Washington College in 1851 ... became a doctor of medicine
    and served as surgeon in the Union Army during the Civil War. Dr. Tom lived
    for a time and practiced his profession at New Concord, Ohio, and during that
    time his younger brother, William A. Frederick lived with him and attended
    Muskingham College from which institution he graduated in 1860.
