Robert DRAKE

                   LOUISE THIESSEN, "KENWORTHYS MARRY", 1990, PG 205; When he came of age, he
left his father's house and moved to Colchester, Essex, Eng. Apprenticed in
serge making about 1598, and later worked in Colchester. Still later, he
emigrated, date unknown to New England. No records have been found on his wife.
   He was the First of the Drakes to settle in Exeter, NH. He later settled in
Hampton, NH and was granted cow common rights on 23 FEB 1645-46. On 25 MAR
1650, he bought his home in Hampton, a "dwelling house and house lot and 6
acres of fresh meadow" for which he paid 75 pounds, 13 shillings.  In Hampton
he was assigned one of the 78 shares in the Great Ox Common in 1651. He was
selectman in 1653 and 1664; 4 OCT 1653 he took an Oath of Allegiance.
