He was buried in the Old Liberty Church Cemetery, Liberty Twp, Delaware Co., OH. He married Catherine McCoy, s/o Robert McCoy of Peters Twp. In 1781/2, John was a private in the Revolution, serving under his brother, Walter, in 8th company, 4th battalion, Cumberland Co militis, commanded by Col John Scott, and received a pension for his services. John inherited his father's plantation at Church Hill near Mercersburg, which adjoined those of Robert Newel and Alexander Glendening in 1783. In 1814, John sold his farm of 158 acres 52 perches in Peters Twp., and moved to Delaware Co., OH with his unmarried sons and daughters. (This was not the land he inherited from his father). John had a considerable amount of money from the sale of his land ($12,000), which he invested in Delaware County land. On 24 JAN 1818, he bought about 1,000 acres of land in Radnor Twp., Delaware Co., from Joseph Margaret Dunlap for $3,200. Later, the land was given to his grandson, Robert to care for his uncles and aunt. John's children were born in Peters Twp, Franklin Co., PA [afhk]

OLIVE BATCHER, 2423 HAMILTON DR., AMES IA 50014; BOOK PUBLISHED 1995; PB 154 "Walter KcKinnie (Josiah) was born in 1748 in Chester Co., PA and died intestate on 20 AUG or APR 1806 at his farm near Mercersburg, Franklin, PA, at the age of 58. He married Jane Rusk, d/o Mary (Glendening) Rusk in 1790. Walter was a boy of 8 uears when he first came to Franklin Co., from Chester Co., with his family, c1756. In 1777-78, Walter served as an ensign in Capt William Huston's marching company, but was marked on the rolls as "on a journey". In 1777-78, he was an ensign under Capt. Robert McCoy (brother of Catherine McCoy, wife of Walter's brother John McKinnie) who was killed at Crooked Billet on 1 MAY 1778. Walter became captain of 8th company in 4th Battalion, Cumberland Co., Militis, on 10 MAY 1780, was in service on western frontier, and Captian in charge of 8th company in 1781-2. Lt Col Samuel Culbertson was commander of 4th Battalion in 1781. Between 1778-83, Walter was captain of rangers on the western frontiers with Jeremiah Rankin as ensign. In 1805, he was named in the Act of Assembly as an officer serving in the Revolution, and had served continuously during the Revolution. He was listed among soldiers from Cumberland Co., who received pay for their services [ehiks] On 4 NOV 1785, Walter obtained a warrant for 350 acres of land in Franklin Co., PA. On 23 MAR 1790, his land was surveyed as 315 acres, 3 rods, 20 perches; bou ndary neighbors were Nathan Brownson, William McClelland, James McKinnie's heirs, and John Wise. Walter died intestate leaving his wife, Jane and 5 children. On 26 APR 1806, Jane McKinnie, John McCullough and John Finley were granted letters of Administration for the estate of Walter McKinnie with James McKinnie and James McCoy as sureties. On 13 OCT 1808, Jane was granted Letters of Administration for estate of Adam Rusk (who may have been her brother-in-law). John McCullough may have been Walter's brother-in-law, husband of his sister Mary. [g]
