Benjamin CHESTNUT

    Benjamin was a private in Cumberland Co., Militia during the Revolution. He
bought 2 lots in or near Mercersburg, from William Smith, and ran a tanning
yard for several years. (William Smith laid out Mercersburg). On 10 MAR 1797,
he sold the yard to Enoch Skinner, and moved to Washington Co., PA, where he
was a pensioner in 1833.  Benjamin applied for a pension on 11 MAY 1833 when he
