The Mucullough family moved to Peters Twp in 1754. John and his younger
brother, James, were captured by Indians 26 JUL 1756. James was killed; John
was held captive for 8 years. John, a farmer, was elected a ruling elder in the
Presbyterian Church in Mercersburg, a post he held until his death. (1828). He
was a justice of the peace in Peters Twp for many years. [r]
