    Samuel an Irish native, s/o Matthew and Elizabeth Patton, early pioneers of
    Peters Twsp [aei]
    Samuel was a captain in Col. Joseph Armstrong's Regiment of the Flying Camp
in 1776, and was captain of 3rd Company in Col Samuel Culbertson's battalion,
Cumberland Co., militia, 1777-80. He commanded a marching company under William
Chambers in 1778, was on the Bedford frontier in 1779, and saw much service.
Samuel was a Hamilton Twp, Franklin Co., PA yeoman. In his will (15 MAY 1813-16
JUN 1821), he named 6 children. [jk]
