Elam died 4 MAR 1901 in Mahaska Co., IA of stomach cancer, and was buried in the Stewart Cem, Mahask Co, IA [aeim] Elam was married to Ellen Mary McKinnie on 10 MAR 1850, according to the Family Bible. They were married 27 MAR 1851 by S.R.Hughes, at the Old Presbyterian Church in Radnor, OH, according to church records. The 1850 census shows that both Elam and Ellen lived with their respective families [aco] (A Courthouse fire in Delaware, OH in the 1880's destroyed the early records.) 6 of their 9 children died young. Elam m2 Catherine Jane Shafer in JAN 1881.
