When Mattie Bixwell's husband, David Smith, died, she married Johannes (John) Durst.  After Mattie Bixwell Smith died, Johanes (John) Durst married his step-daughter, Emma Smith.

1880 Dodge Co. Minn. Census states "Maggie".

Mattie died shortly after or at the birth of son, Frederick "Fritz" Durst.
