This tract of land I allow to be valued at the death of my wife and the valuation in to 5 equal parts, two of these parts I give and bequeath to Robert, 1 1/2 to Samuel and 1 1/2 to John, to them respectfully and to their heirs in fee simple forever. 4th to the heirs of my son Caleb, deceased, to my dau. Fanny Campbell and to my dau Polly Withrow to each of them I give one dollar. 5th to my son George, I give and bequeathh 1/3 part of 450 acres of land on Duffs Creek, which I purchased from John McDougal and to his heirs in fee simple forever. 6th to each of my sons, David, George, William, Robert, Samuel and John, I also give a horse and saddle- to the 2 stock, the horses now acknowledged as their property & to the others such as my estate may be able to afford them. Both David and Betsy were buried in Groves Cemetery, Guilford [bn] David inherited 150 acres of land on Duffs Fork of Deer Creek, Ross Co., OH, from his father, which he sold after he moved to Madison Co, OH, prior to 1848. The deed, signed by both David and his wife, was dated 5 APR 1812 and is recorded in Fayette Co., OH, which until 1810, was part of Ross Co. George Stockton was of a roving disposition ; he lived in Indiana during the early years of his life, and spent his time time hunting with the Indians. During the War of 1812 he scouted with Logan, the Mingo chief, whose celebrated speech is quoted in old school readers. The greater part of his mature years he lived at Bainbridge, OH where he died died 16 DEC 1865. Mrs. Stockton d. at the same place 28 JAN 1860. George had a roving disposition and hunted with the indians. During the War of 1812, he hunted with Logan, the Mingo Chief, whose celebrated speech is quoted in old school readers. He inherited 150 acres of land on Duff's Fork of Deer Creek which his father, David had purchased from John McDougal. George served in the War of 1812 as a Private in Capt.
