Grandma converted most of her back yard to a garden. She was an expert gardener. Her garden never had a weed. She taught us to not just pull to top of the weed but also the root.

In later life, her health limited her abilities in the garden. At one point, she took the legs off a chair and used that. Later she would lay on her stomach and weed.

Grandma could do any kind of needlework. She did needlepoint and in fact, Momma has several chairs that Grandma did the needlework. Grandma was an expert tatter. She could make the loveliest doilies. Several family members have doilies Grandma made for them. Grandma was also very good at crochet. In fact, Grandma crocheted a king side bed spread for Momma and Dad as a gift. It has been on their bed ever since.

Grandma could make ANYTHING. She was often found baking and cooking. If you asked Grandma what she was making, she would reply, "When it is done, that is what we will call it."

I recall several times when Grandma came to visit, that I would end up 'sick'. She would care for me. I remember that she could make hot chocolate by using cocoa, sugar, and a pinch of flour. She would make the best poched eggs.

Grandma made the best cinnamon rolls. I loved them so much I had Grandma write down the recipe for me. She used honey instead of sugar in the recipe. I think that is what makes them taste the best.
