NOTE: after losing his wife and 2 children he went west to Somerset Co. where at age 29 he married Lucinda Shoup and decided to go west. They went as far as the Missouri River and built a small cottage on a barge and floated down the river.  They settled on the bank of the River on the Kansas side at a small village called Wyndotte.  This grew to be Kansas City.  While the children were yet small they decided to move farther west, seeking farm land. Finally settling in Lyon county near a bubbling spring of water. Daniel had a family of 8 children.
