David SEITZ

"David and Louisa were married in Illinois and lived there for several years prior to migrating to Texas. They stayed in Texas two years, and this is where Lora was born. They moved to Missouri at the start of the Civil War. The war may have been the reason for their eastward migration...David was elected Justice of the Peace for the Crane Creek Twp. in July, 1866. This elected office shows that David was pro-Union during the Civil War. David served in the Barry County Home Guard during the Civil War." Elaine Wiley House, 5745 Grand, Kansas City, MO 64113 "Adine Seitz Evans, daughter of John Seitz, told me this tory that her uncle Ben Seitz had told here: David Seitz and families and his youngest brother Michael & wife, also his sister Manurva & husband (Bob Kenedy) all started out west to the state of Washington. They were camped near Leann or Jenkins, Missouri one night. Next morning as they were getting ready to pull out David's little girl Mary was accidently killed. She was buried at Potter Cemetery. David decided to stay in MO. The other 2 families went on to Washington State in covered wagons using ox teams."
