Heinrich Weidner etc: 15 april 1903 "Hickory Times - Mercury" Mrs. Whitener Dead Mary Adeline Whitener was born 5 June 1831, was baptized in infancy and early in life received into full communion with the Evangelical Lutheran Church. She continued a devout and faithful Christian throughout life. On 23 November 1852 she was married to Jonas Conrad Whitener. She was the mother of seven sons, three of whom preceded the mother into eternity. She died in peace 12 April 1903 at the age of 71 years, 10 months, and 7 days. Her husband died in 1871, and for 32 years, she lived a widow with all the cares of the support and the bringing up of her children thrown upon her. She was a kind, affectionate, and devoted Christian mother, much interested in the welfare and salvation of her children. j The funeral services were conducted by her pastor at Zion Lutheran Church on the 13th inst. in the presence of a large assembly of kindred and friends.
