BUSE aka BUESE A second marriage date from logal codument was 4 jan 1850 at Scruple, Oswego, NY. Justice of the Peace Envek Stall, married in her parent's home. A second marriage place is Phoenix from Seeley genealogy. William Buse died in War of 1861 - 1865 Civil War at Lincoln General Hospital, of chronic diarrhea - Source National archives Washington D.C. He was a private in Co. B Seventeenth Regiment U.S. Infantry. Civil War. He lived in Scruple, Oswego, NY in 1849 according to court paper. NOTE: William and Sarah Buse/Baues are the "probable" parents of William Buse.
In application for benefits of Buse children, Maria Ann's mother in her own handwriting stated her name as Maria Ann. Maria and her husband died in the same year, 1863. One relative said she died of a broken heart. They left five small children.
A second birthdate is Jan 1854, according to her grandmother, Margaret Seeley. Omaha Death Certificate of Anna Wolf shows date as 12 Jan 1912.
By grand niece Shirley Bruce Gerdes - He was called Old Uncle Lanson. He never married. He lived near the Charles Bruce home place and raised beautiful gardens - both vegetables and flowers. A second virthdate for Alanson give by his grandmother, Margaret Seeley, was April. BUESE is the spelling of his surname in his obituary. Living for a time in Dakota Territory. From his obit - "In 1875 he came to the black hills and engaged in the mercantile business after which he came to Montana as a miner." Also in his obit his birthday is listed as 1857
His birth mother was Maria Seeley and his birth father was William Buse. Both William and Maria died in 1963. On his death certificate, Norman Bruce lists his mother as Maudie Simms, birthplace Scotland and his father as Robert Bruce, birthplace Scotland. I think this little five year old boy was adopted by Robert and Maudie Bruce. This is why his name is now Bruce. Family talk is that Robert Bruce was a beekeeper. I know from Daddy (Ray Bruce) that Charles Robert Bruce kept bees on his rance. Shirley Gerdes knows that he died on the old homeplace in Townsend, Montana. Charles was a smelterman.
From old Uncle Lamson's Obituary in my possession. "Leaves a sister, Mrs. Mattie Moffit in Flint, Michigan." According to Robert Moffet, her grandson, Martha was adopted by Donelson family (letter 22 Sep 1979).
Noted in the obituary of old Uncle Lanson "He leaves a sister, Mrs. C. C. Clifton of Omaha, NE." From Seeley genealogy by Racheal Remington, dated Jan 1937, "All the family is gone now except Emma and she is on her deathbed."
