Tombstones were laid in Panaca, Lincoln Co., Nevada on Mother's Day - May 1991 with the dates of his and his wife's death.
Birth date in the Panaca Ward Records is Feb. 4, 1799, Born in Leafield, Oxfordshire, England.  One spelling was Lyfield, Oxon, England.

Note: listed below the Syphus names were the names of the eight Elders who were returning home.  They paid less rates of 2.50 (Pounds and shillings) a piece and shared one cabin.  However, the name of two of them seen to be spelled almost the same making it possible that it is the same person.

Family Group Sheet in Church archives.  Baptism was done again in May 1956 St. George Temple.  Believed to have died as a young lady.

After searching all the church micro-fiche in April 1991, I find no reference to this girl, Rhoda Syphus, even though her work is listed "Done" on the Family Group Sheet and the dates are on the sheet.

No more data found other than her christening date at Leafield, Oxfordshire, England 14 June 1801.

Luke Syphus Family Temple Book: Her work was done by Lovina Syphus Whitney.  Rhoda is listed as "a relative".  Only baptism was done on 18 Feb. 1908 St. George Temple.

A Mrs. Jane Syphus (widow) remarried on 18 Mar 1838 in Leafield, Oxfordshire, England to a Mr. Jospeh Hunt (widower).  Since this is the only Jane we found in that area for this time period, we assume it is the widow of Mark Syphus.

The merged data had two Philip Syphus (one born in 1814 and the other born in 1817) and both married to the same person on the same day.  I assumed they were the same person so I merged their records.  I kept the 1814 birth year since that seemed to match the census data the best.
