Divers Seek Man's Body

PAROWAN, Iron County -- Divers were probing the depths of the Yankee Meadows Reservoir 13 miles southeast of here today for the body of a McGill, Nev., father of six who drowned Sunday afternoon when a canoe tipped over. 
Three of his children in the canoe with him, all wearing life jackets, were rescued by other boaters. 
Henry (Hank) Iroz, 42, a power plant operator for Kennecott Copper Corp. at its McGill plant, disappeared into the water almost immediately after the craft overturned. His children said he swam very little. 
DRAG HOOKS 
A crew of 15 men using drag hooks probed the small reservoir until 10:30 p.m., but heavy moss, rain and darkness hampered the search. 
Five scuba divers from the Utah Park and Recreation Commission boating division joined the search today. 
Iron County Deputy Sheriff Hyatt Bentley said the water was about 18 feet deep where the mishap occurred. Rescued, were John, 12; Veneeta, 9; and David, 2. Veneeta said, "Everytime Daddy moved, the boat would tip. He and Johnny were rowing and it just went over." 
ATTEND REUNION 
The accident occurred about 150 feet north of the south shore. The Iroz family was attending a family reunion at the reservoir and many family members witnessed the tragedy. 
It was the 30th drowning in Utah this year. 
Henry Iroz was born Jan. 19, 1926, in Bakersfield, Calf., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Iroz. He married Evadean Robison of Millard County. 
He was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was serving as a high councilman from the McGill area. He was active in church and civic affairs. 
Survivors include his widow and six children, ranging in age from 2 to 16 years.
