Hananiah GAUNT

                   BIRTH: Will of Hananiah GAUNT, Springfield Township, Burlington, NJ.
One of the IGI records gives a birthdate of 30 Sep 1694.  This would make him much younger but old enough to be married in 1716 (20).

DEATH: Statement from William Franklin, Esquire that Mary Gamble was the
executor of the will of Zebulon Gaunt on the 19th of November, 1772.

The IGI shows another child in this family:

There is some debate as to whether this person belongs in this family.  David L. Gauntt argues that he is the son of Daniel Gaunt and Hannah Shourds (per Cornelius Shourd's will).
OR are there two Hananiahs? (besides the father).

said to have moved with his family "to the Western Country."

       Daniel Gaunt (161), son of Hananiah Gaunt and Dorothy Butler, was born circa 1680 and died after 1721.  Daniel moved from Burlington County, New Jersey to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1705, apparently in search of a suitable wife. Records entitled "Persons admitted as Freemen to the City of Philadelphia" (page I, 13), list Daniel Gaunt as applicant with no occupation given.    The date of admission is given as August 14, 1705. The price of admission for him is listed as 32 shillings. Registration was required as a safeguard against pirates.
       He didn't waste much time in his search, for by spring he was married to Hannah Sioerts, daughter of Cornelius Sioerts and Sophia Wiemer.  These names have been variously spelled Wimmer, Wiemar. Weimar, and Wimmers; and Sioerts has been spelled Siverts, and the Engish approximation, Shourds. Sophia's name has been recorded as Sytske and Sijtske.  The wedding took place on April 29, 1706 as noted in the minutes of the Abington, Pennsylvania Monthly Meeting records.
       "Whereas Daniel Gaunt of Philadelphia and Hannah Shourds of Germantown, having declared their intentions of marriage with each other before two monthly
meetings, enquiry being made by the persons appointed, and found clear from all others on account of marriage did accomplish their marriage in the unity of Friends as signified by their marriage certificate - meeting of 29/2mo./1706."
