intended to be married at Akers, MO, but the "creek rose", so they got married

When Effie Ellen Nettles Edgmond Altman's funeral was held 13 Feb. 1971 she
could not be buried that day as the roads to the Pleasantview Cemetery were
flooded, therefore she was buried six days later when the roads were passable.

Obituary:
Mrs. Effie Edgmond Altman, 82, wife of Adolph Altman, 931 Cook Ave., died Saturday at St. Vincent's Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born March 27, 1888, in Cedar Grove, Mo., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Granville Nettles.  She was raised in Missouri and married there.  She moved to the Ballantine area in 1910.  In 1934 she moved to Billings.
She was married to Adolph Altman April 2, 1949, in Columbus.  They made their home in Billings where Mrs. Altman was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday from Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary with the Rev. Paul Frieburger, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Pleasantville Cemetery, Ballantine.
Survivors include the widower; two sons, G.J. Edgmond, Helena, and W.J. Edgmond, Bridger; five daughters, Mrs. Mary England, 923 Cook Ave., Mrs. Ben Burkart, 1245 Landscape Drive, Mrs. Alfred Weinzetl, 1742 Columbine Drive, Mrs. Don Summerfelt, Helena, and Mrs. Art Fossum, Clyde Park; one sister, Mrs. John Edgmond, Neoshoe, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
