Notes:
His parents lived in Williamson County TN until about 1830,when they removed to Pickens County, Alabama. No record has come to light to date, to accurately say whether the M stands for Monroe or Madison. James married Susan per their family Bible record. Their marriage bond is dated the same date, and it is filedin Williamson County, TN. When this couple moved to Dickson Co. i s a good question. Their home place is shown on the map on the reverse side of this page (Dodson Family Notebook - in care of Richard A. Dotson of Cedar City, Utah)., along with the location of their family cemetery. The physical location is northwest of Dull. Family legend has said that their home place was near Stayton, and that James C. Dotson was born there. The map on the reverse side was made after your editor (Ralph C. Jones) visited their home place. A copy of this couple's family Bible record is in the family records, and it contains not only their family record, but also James' parents, plus his brothers and sisters. James' will was written 14 Feb 1847 and was probated 2 Apr 1847. It is recorded on pages 181, 182, 183 of Dickson County TN Will Book A.
After James died, Susan married John Grimes. Look under Susan's history for details.
