Henry Charles LAMB, SR.
History of Fred & Emmeretta (Musig) Lamb-by LeDoan Lamb July 1978. 1.1904-1905: They met while attending BYU. 2.Sept 13, 1905 they were married in the Manti Temple and both left Wales, Utah to teach school in Ferron Utah.(Ferron is just across East Mountains from Fairview, Utah. 3.After school they returned to Wales. On June 18th, 1906, they traveled by buggy from Wales to Mt. Pleasant for conference and to see Grandpa and Grandma Musig in their home. The rough buggy ride started me on my way and I was born in Mt. Pleasant the 19th day of June, 1906. 4.My father rode a horse back to Wales to get Dr. Edmonds to attend mother and asked uncle Henry, his brother, to go to their home and get my baby clothes. Thus, I was was put in swadling blankets till my clothes arrived. 5.Father was teaching school in Wales that year. 6.The next year he taught school in Loa Utah and mother lived in Wales. Following that they both taught school in Loa and one year I remember Aunt Kate rode in the buggy to teach in Buknell, Utah, about 40 miles from Loa. 7.Mother taught me in the beginners grade in Loa. 8.Father got a teaching job in Wales so they could be close to better doctors because of Twyla being crippled with infantile paralysis in her left leg and hip. The next event was the birth of the twins, Margaretta and Morgan on Dec. 22, 1913. My mother and children moved in the Musig home in Mt. Pleasant the fall of 1913 with Aunt Margaretta Harmon;s family to remain near a doctor when her child was born in December. Father who was still teaching in Loa arrive in Mt. Pleasant on 21 Dec and that night he had to ride to Wales for Dr. Edmonds to help during the birth. Mother had a severe time with the birth and Morgan who weighed less than 4 lbs, was not expected to live. Two weeks later, Aunt Margaretta had her child Aldo and she was able to nurse Morgan which helped to sustain his life. Mother never regained her full health after this occasion. She was sick every winter and nearly died several times. The twins began to gro and assumed their normal health, but the care for Twyla and a set of twins was a very heavy burden. 9.In 1918, father was elected San Pete County Clerk and we moved to Manti for two years. 10. In 1920, father was principle of Maroni District School. We lived there in the winter, and in Wales until he died on Febuary 27th. 1923. He died of a stroke while teaching a class for a teacher who was sick. He was 44. *Also see notes for Emmeretta Musig #339. "Things I fondly remember about my mother.." *A 90 min.
