                   From family information Lucious Shilling deserted the family.  The family name
should be spelling Shilling.
James Udell Schilling Sr. changed the spelling to Schilling - not sure of the
reason.

Shilling spelling would indicate English heritage andSchilling spelling would indicate German heritage.

Lucious was a barber by trade and was killed in a knife fight outside
the Barber Shop. Death Certificate in possession of J. M. Ball.

heritage rather than German.
My father changed the spelling to Schilling according
to my Grandmother Schilling. All the original documents
that I have in my possession indicates the name is spelled
SHILLING.

James left home December 1, 1921.  He enlisted in the
U.S.Navy July 16, 1922 in Seattle, Washington - Age 18.
Arrived at the U.S. Naval Training Station, San Francisco,
CA July 19, 1922.  He spent 18 yrs. in the U.S. Navy and
held the rank of Chief Petty Officer.  He was raised a
member of the Baptist Church.  He was a member of the
American Legion and a Mason.

                   William Kirby Schilling married Amaryllas Elma Walters 2 Jun 1928.
#2 marriage Carrie Hawkins, in Jackson, Miss.  The Rev. R.E. Hough
officiated.  They had a daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Creekmore and a granddaughter,
Catherine Creekmore, both of Jackson.
