J. C. Bull began cultivating a plantation in Yazoo Co. in 1833 and was joined
by his family the next year. He was the son of James H. and Frelove (Campbell)
Bull.
His first wife died in 1850 and Mr. Bull married Mercy Ogden in 1859. At the
time of the Civil War his land holdings totaled 3,000 acres.
Mr. Bull was a Baptist for 50 years and was highly respected by the community.
