Ira Jones WILLES

                   RESEARCH NOTE:
    Malissa Lott was first sealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. in the Nauvoo temple in 1843.  Malissa was then married to John Milton Bernhisel, who considered his first three plural wives under his "spiritual charge" only, and he never lived with them.  His marriage to Malissa Lott in the Nauvoo temple on 8 Feb 1846 was for time only, and she left him not too long after their marriage.  Although there was no record of divorce, it is assumed that the departure was of mutual agreement because she remarried Ira Jones Willes in 1849.  Because she was sealed to Joseph Smith Jr., she was married to Ira Jones Lott for time only, but her children are considered to be Born in the Covenant under her sealing to Joseph Smith Jr.  The additional sealings to Ira Jones Lott and Jonh Milton Bernhisel were performed, according to Church policy, after the death of all parties.  Additionally, all children have been sealed to their birth parents Ira Jones Willes and Malissa Lott after their deaths.
