Came to Halifax on the ship PEARL in 06-15-1751 - single, 37 yrs. old. Occupation listed as 'wagner' which was a coach builder. Came to Lunenburg, N.S. in 1753. Philip was a Lutheran. Occupation: Farmer Philip Haussler is known to have lived (perhaps born in) Knielingen (Knittlingen) in Baden-Durlach, Germany. He was a journeyman coach builder in Germany and in Lunenburg he continued his trade as a wagon maker. He recieved a 30 acre lot in 1753-1754 allotment; a town lot in 1760-Strassburgers Division E-8;a 30 acre lot in 1760 at Mahone Bay C-14 and a 30 acre lot at Second Peninsula A-6; a 300 acre lot on 7 Nov. 1763 at First Division C-8 and finally a Township Grant to the Heirs of Philip Jacob on 30 June 1784 of 360 acres. Eventually Philip left Lunenburg and settled on a 30 acre lot in 2nd Peninsula, possibly getting his wife's lot as well, as it was next to his. His 300 acre lot was in Whynot's settlement and was in the Heisler's name until approximately 1987. There was 232 souls landed on the ship "Pearl" along with Philip. Received an English land grant of 380 acres used to help settle pro-British protestants in the French (Catholic/Acadian) coastal area. They settled in Second Peninsula, se of Lunenburg (then called Merliguesch) and farmed cattle and sheep. At the time of their marriage, Zion Lutheran Church records lists Valentine as a wagonmaker.
