Starns Frank Mecham, 91, passed away at his home in Escalante, Utah on November 27, 1997.He was born June 12, 1906, in Tropic, Utah, to Emery J. and Elizabeth Hatch Mecham.Starns worked for the US Forest Service for 31 years. After he retired from there, he worked for Kelly Construction and at the Steed Sawmill. Besides working for his uncles, The Hatch Brothers in Panguitch, he worked numerous other jobs before he married the light of his life, Fontella Roundy, on March 12, 1928, in the St. George LDS Temple.He is survived by his wife, Fontella Roundy Mecham; three daughters, a son, 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; brother, Malen Mecham and sister, Viva Mecham both of Tropic; and many loving nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and sisters: Vilate Mecham, John H. Mecham, Emery M. Mecham, Ardell M. Riggs, Ira W. Mecham.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 1997, at 1 p.m. in the Escalante 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Escalante Saturday morning from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Escalante Cemetery. Funeral directors, Neal S. Fontella Roundy Mecham, 87, of Escalante, died February 13, 1998 in Panguitch, Utah.She was born September 25, 1910 in Escalante to Albert E. and Adelia Porter Roundy. She married Starns Frank Mecham, March 12, 1929 in the St. George LDS Temple. He preceded her in death November 27, 1997.She was an active member of the LDS Church where she taught Sunday School, Primary, served in the Relief Society Presidency and was a visiting teacher. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and family. She dedicated her life to helping others.
She is survived by three daughters, a son, 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; sister, Cloma Napolitano, Johnston, Rhode Island; brother, Quinn Roundy, Phoenix, AZ. She is preceded in death by her husband, Starns; brother, Otto Roundy; and parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16, 1998 at 1 p.m. in the Escalante 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Escalante on Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the EscalanteCemetery. Funeral Directors, Neal S.
