                   RESEARCH NOTE:
Norman Bliss joined the Mormon Church and drove one of Brigham Young's wagons across the plains. He married Mary Elizabeth Cole, but she left him and their son early on. Norman then married Elizabeth Ann Bird. They had a daughter. Norman was then called to a mission, and while he was away, Elizabeth Ann Bird left him and the two children. Norman came back from the mission long enough to arrange for a place for the two kids to stay, and then went back to complete the mission. Later he married Sarah Lewis, who left him, taking the 3 youngest children with her.
