Notes:
Jalee Clark gives 2 poss dates; 1783 and 1800. The 1783 date coincides with her 1850 Census as well as with Henthorn material. The Ancestral File uses the abt 1800 date. The 1800 date coincides better with the birth of her last child which would be 36 rather than 54 in 1836.

If this is Abigail's child and her birth date of 1783/1784 is correct she would have been between 51 & 53 years old which seems too old.

This was found in a printed Index for the 1840 Ohio Census. The microfilm copy was unreadable, so I couldnt identify any other information. Poss this is her.
Browsed through Heritage Online Images and found a readable image. Only 7 items filled in: 1 male 15-19 years; 1 male 20-29 years;0 males 30-39 years; 0 males 40-49 years; 1 female 15 to 19 years; 1 female 50-59 years; 3 persons employed in agriculture

in the Robert A.Jackson household as Abigail Jackson, 66, born in New York. According to this census, her birthdate would be sometime between June 1, 1783 and June 1, 1784. .

(Research):Abigail living in 1850 in Iowa with Robert A. and family:

According to the 1850 US Census for Iowa, Abigail Jackson was living with her son in Wapello County. Her age is listed as being 66 years old. Her birthplace is listed as New York, which is consistent with the family records. Until 1849, Jesse Taylor and his new family were also living in the same county.

Problem: Death Date and Burial Place

She is not with Robert A. or Jessie Taylor in the 1860 Census. And she is not in the 1850 Iowa Mortality Index. Did she die in Wapello County while she was living with Robert A. Jackson, or did she move in with another child? The wonderful Wapello Co Gen Society indexed all of the tombstones in all of the cemeteries in Wapello Co and then published the results. I went through them all and couldnt find her name. The Dahlonega Cemetery was a likely place. Its earliest tombstone was from 1850. The author also notes that at this cemetery there was a pile of about 27 stones which were not read or were not readable. It is possible she died in Wapello Co before the family left for Kansas.

Problem: Abigail's Parents? Listed below are some ideas for further research.

1. JaLee Clark notes that their is an AbigailTaylor in the IGI whose mother is Abigail Ross

2. Also notes her name spelled Abigill in the Aaron Jackson will which may or may not be a clue. But after reading census records there are many confusions dt mispellings and poor handwriting. At any rate, the Abigail Ross may be a connection.

from above web page:
Our colonial Taylor ancestors immigrated from the United Kingdom and arrived at the New York harbor. Original they lived on the Eastern seaboard of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Following the Revolutionary War, all but the Dutch colonist migrated to the Midwestern states of Ohio and Indiana. Our familytree contains no ancestors at all from the South or West.

6. The above are just a few of the many poss. There are also many poss Taylor's living in Fayette Co at the time of her birth and these are prob the likeliest. Still alot more places to look.

7. Captain James Taylor of Washington CO 4th Battalion during Rev War????

This information is for general reference. Not all info has been verified, however, I have listed documentation when possible.
