NOTES: Edward Fowler Fish, like his father and grandfather, was a Presbyterian Minister.In 1845 he entered Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., and after graduation, entered Lane Theological Seminary in Sept. 1852. Edward Fowler Fish married Anna Johnson Hinsdale at Iowa City, Iowa, September 6, 1856. He spent a year and a half as superintendent of public schools in Lancaster, Ohio, and then two years in teaching at Marietta College. Following this, he went as a Home Missionary to the "wilds of northern Wisconsin in the Green Bay region." Rev. Fish also preached at Columbus, Wisc., and then Carbondale, Ill., before moving to Du Quoin, Ill., in 1871. The family lived in Du Quoin for seven years. In December 1877, Edward was thrown from his buggy and had to resign from preaching. By April 1881 he was well enough to resume preaching at Franklinville, N.Y. He went to California in December 1882. There he preached at Gilroy, San Pablo, and Carpinteria (1887-1890). He returned to Illinois, and died in Evanston.
He married Anna Johnson Hinsdale 6 Sep 1856 at Iowa City, Johnson, Iowa . Anna Johnson Hinsdale was born at Le Roy, Genesee, New York 21 Aug 1830 daughter of Elizur Hinsdale, Captain and Hannah Johnson .
