Grant had smoked cigarettes since he was fifteen years old, as a result he had emphysma. He stopped smoking some twenty years before his death. His death, apparently, was caused by convulsive heart failure, according to his current wife, Merle (Georgie) Roberts. He went to bed about 8:30 p.m. and died in his sleep.
He married Elizabeth Maud Harder 5 Jul 1893 at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah . Elizabeth Maud Harder was born at Kamas, Summit, Utah 15 Jan 1871 daughter of Willet Shave Harder and Sarah Spicer .
