NOTE: Joanna and Jane Hampton, ages 4 and 2, are living with the family at the time of the 1870 census. They are probably grandchildren of Jacob and Henrietta Hampton.

On State of Michigan Death Record pg 57 entry 15, Henrietta (McMurray) Hampton died at the age of 65 therefore her birth would be about 1824. She was a housewife and died of heart failure as stated on the death record. The death record also states that her mother's last name was Murry and not MacMurry.

I found Jacob on the 1900 census in Kalamazoo married to Clarisa,, I am assuming that he is the son of Jacob and Henrietta Hampton only because they are both in Kalamazoo and the dates add up.
Information taken from certified copy of death certificate of Bertrand A. Elkerton and from a telephone conversation to McKains Cemetery in Pavilion Township, Michigan. However the date of death from the cemetery was 1899 and they say she was 52 years old at death. This means that the date of birth may be wrong. I received the 1852 and 1904 dates from Rosabell Clark, her granddaughter.
State of Michigan Death Record 1867-1901 Volume 1-2 Kalamazoo, Michigan 0984130 has her death as November 26, 1899 at the age of 48 years 7 months and 28 days. The original dates that I had were that she was born in 1852 and died in 1904, she died as a result of an enlarged heart. I changed the dates on the record to reflect the information from the Michigan Death Record. (May 30, 2002)
There is no record of marriage that I have found as of May 30, 2002 but in looking at the 1870 census Merinda was only 19 years of age and her oldest child, Jane, was 4 years old.
