Moved from Frederick County, Maryland to Floyd County, Virginia in 1790-1791. Jacob first purchased land on Little River near George and Henry Sowers (most like related to Nancy). Jacob soon sold that land and bought a large acreage on Obediah's Creek, waters of Indian Creek. This section of Floyd County is known as Alum Ridge. In 1799 Jacob owned at least 500 acres of land. Over the years 1812-1823 Jacob sold his land to his sons, William and John (who got the home place), to his son-in-law, Williams Akers, to George Reed, and perhaps to others.
