Could be Emich (in IGI Pedigree). Could be Emigh also.
Could be Johannes Phllip.
Orphans court document.
His wife called him John Emig Sr. He was called Sr. in the PA Republican 7/23/1834, which had his obituary.
I also have the original will in 1760 in German, that is referenced in the older will. The signatures match between the 2 documents. He was living in Winchester Twp, in 1760, when the 1760 will was written.
In the marriage document at First Reformed Church in Lancaster, his father is named as John.

This last John Ehmig, Yeoman or Farmer, was the father of Valentine Ehmig, who in 1802 bought a farm at what is now called Emigsville. He was named for his grandfather, Valentine Krantz, and he served in the Revolution from York County.

Deeds Book G, 120 (York County). 10 May 1776, John Ehmig of Manchester Twp, yeoman, and Maria Margaret his wife; to Michael Welsh of the Town of York, cordwainer; for 240 pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania; the western 1/2 of Lot no. 107 (on the south side of High Street) in York Town, which Conrad Beyrer and Barbara his wife had conveyed to the grantor 23 Feb 1767.
Came to America in 1732, age 16.

He was a revolutionary soldier.

One of the Emig Researchers((Lourye Emig - wife of Melvin Emig) stated that Johannes parents were Johannes and Anna Dorothea Rotter of Uttenhoffen, to America on the ship Pink John and William.

Feb 25 2008 - I am not 100% sure of this connection. If it is a connection, he was born on 25 January, and was baptized on Jul 5, 1753.

Mar 2 2008- Going through the land grants, etc. It now seems like Johannes and Margaret are indeed his parents. He has a brother Valentine named in his will, and his property adjoins his. That property is Valentine's who is the son of Johannes and Margaret.
I can't resolve the birthdates, christening dates, etc.

I have his will dated 23rd of July, 1834.
In this will he called himself John. Another time he called himself John Emig, the Elder.
He lived in West Manchester, York, PA.
John said in his will that he had only one son and one daughter, and named the children commonly said to be those of Eve Spangler.

I also have a birthdate of 19 Feb 1753 (this is a christening date).
I also have a birthdate of 18 Jan 1753 in York.
He was called John Emig Sr.
His tombstone reads,"Johannes Emig, 25th Janner 1753, 25th Juli 1834, 81 years, 6 months"

Military Service 1779 - 1780 - 1782 Militia, Private 1st. c. (they have him as Emig, John III - York County Department of Veterans' affairs allowances and burial record). The dates on that card are 2-19-1753 to 7-15-1834. (This could be the other John Emig.)
Service entry date: 1779 - 1780 - 1782 Militia.
Rank: Private 1st Class.
Supposedly buried at Wolf's Church Cemetery. Ours is buried there.
The back of the card stated that although he was the III, he was called Junior, private and private first class. First Co. Rinehart Bat. Captain third batallion York Co. Militia, 1779, 1780, 1782.
RE: PA Archives Sixth series, Vol. 2pp 497,499,663.

There is a real question about who his parents are. IGI has lots of different people.
Michael Lau has a bithdate of 19 Feb 1754, christened 1 Apr 1753, Christ Lutheran Church. Died 15 Jul 1834. (This was from the Register of Christ Lutheran Church - which says:
Item 696 - John, son of John and Maria Margaret Emig, was born 19 Feb 1753 and baptized 1 Apr 1753. Witnesses John and Dorothy Emig.) This could be the other John.
Buried at Wolf's Church. I don't see a site for him, I see a site for our John Emig, born 25 Jan 1753
These don't look like the same.

Feb 24 2008 - There is a John Emig, son of Nicholas and Eva, baptized on Jul 5, 1753, sponsored by John and Dorothea Emig. At this point, I am thinking that this is our John.
