John Wing Howland

In 1843 Pardon bought appox. 5 acres of land in Dartmouth in the Spontic section (area around or near Russell's Mills). This would have been on Slades Corner Rd near the "hump" in the road In 1846 Pardon got land on Spontic Rd., from Nicholas Howland & Wm Allen. In 1848 Pardon sold to Philip Howland 4 acres in Dartmouth. The 1850 census Pardon listed as farmer with a worth of $1,000. In March 1856 Pardon gave his sons Solomon and Philip a part of Spontic in Dartmouth, appox. 2 acres. 1880 census Pardon was living with his son Solomon and his wife Hannah. Pardon used to make stuff in his barn to sell. Pardon's cause of death was paralysis and his funeral was held at his residence in Dartmouth. Solomon was administrator of Pardon's estate March 7, 1873. Pardon's land was sold to William F. Howland for $770. Pardon & his wife are buried on Fisher Rd behind the Grange at 1133 Fisher Rd. You have to walk behind the building and directly into a heavily wooded but passable area. They attended the church (now a private house) on Slade Corner Rd. right across from intersection of Fisher Rd.
