Samuel Fitz-Randolph HAMILTON

Native of Princeton,N.J. and a graduate of Princeton College - Class 1808. He studied law with Chancellor Williamson of Elizabethtown and was admitted to the bar of N.J. in 1812. In 1839 he was candidate for Gov. He was a warm personal friend and one of the legal advisors of the ex-King of Spain, Joseph Bonaparte, (who resided in Bordentown during his exile). He was the first mayor of Trenton to be chosen by the people. He was a descendent through his father, of the Massachusetts pilgrim settler, Edward Fitz-Randolph: and of the Dennis and Manning families of N.J. Through his mother, of the Joline and Ross families of Elizabethtown, N.J. Kings Meadow had a death date of 13 Aug 1858. Quartermaster general of the state of NJ. 1830 - 1855. Was the first Mayor of Trenton to be elected by the people.
Born at the "Paul" homestead, Wissahickon Road,Philadelphia. Buried with her husband, 2 sons, and several grandchildren in the same plot.

After his marriage he settled in Belvidere,N.J. amd engaged in the lumber business with his uncle, Joseph P. Robeson. He, his wife, and his 2 sons are buried in Mercer Cemetery.
He married Elizabeth (Eliza) Robeson 20 May 1818 . Elizabeth (Eliza) Robeson was born at Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 14 Mar 1795 daughter of (David) Morris Robeson and Tacy Paul .
