For 25 years waas presiding Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, being the 5th judge of the Robeson line, from his great great grandfather, Judge Andrew Robeson, down. For several years after his marriage, he resided at Oxford Furnace N.J. He later moved to Belvidere N.J. for the rest of his life. He was candidate for Gov. in 1847. He was a large land owner and greatly interested in agriculture.

Her ancesters were early colonial settlers, and she was of distinguished revolutionary descent.
Secretary of the Navy, graduated from Princeton in 1847.In the Civil war he took an active part. Appointed Attorney General of N.J. in 1867 and Secretary of the Navy June 1869, by President Grant. He held the position until the end of Pres. Grant's term in 1877. He was sent to Congress in 1879 and re-elected in 1881. He died at his home. New York Herald Tribune 9-28-1897. George M. Unmarried. Served with distinction through the Civil War, enlisting early in 1861. Collector of the Port of Camden. Graduated from Princeton in 1857, studied law and was about to be admitted to the bar when the war broke out.
He married Anna Maria Maxwell 30 May 1825 . Anna Maria Maxwell was born at 5 Sep 1806 daughter of George C. Maxwell and Rachel Bryan .
