Joseph in a document in the National Archives of Canada makes this claim: The late Isaiah Griffin was a native of America, lived his lived in Albany County - joined General Bourgoyne in 1777 - he lost his life in 1788 from illness...fatigue while in service---- He left a wife,now in the States --claimant his oldest Son now in this province in the 8th Township -- Samuel Griffin resident .....his brother in this province The possessions that were taken are then listed. He lists his losses and produces an affidavit from Hannah Allen.....before Justice White to Isaiah Griffin's personal Estate as above and to its being taken by Rebels. Major Jessups includes a certificate which states that "the bearer W. Joseph Griffin joined the Kings army in 1777 and.....a....Loyalist till the end of the late war. Two years of the above time he served in the Regt with me...this 2)th day of Octover 1787 " signature - Edward Jessup Major , Camman late Loyal Rangers. ( This document thus gives the year of his death) Justus Griffin in his book 'A Pioneer Family" on page23 refers to the descendants of Richard and Susanna Haight and says. ........The descendants of Isaiah and perhaps Obadiah and Gilbert, emigrated to Canada during and after the revolutionary war, some locating in Eastern Ontario and others in Nova Scotia. One named Samuel (Joseph's brother) was a pioneer near Brockville......This statement gives Isaiah's parents and family. Alternate birth data: 30 July 1738
