AFN: 8Z01 - J5. In 1737 & 1743, he was taxed on 100 acres of land in Lancaster County, PA. Samuel Robeson, like his brothers, was interested in the iron industry of PA. He was living in 1765, when he signed a paper (PA archives Vol 24 pp 506-8). Hiswife came from the vicinity of Trappe, PA. "Trappe" is Swedish for stairs. IGI said he was of Greenwich Township, Glouchester, N.J. AFN: 9201 -W2. Of Trappe, Montgomery County, PA. Trappe is Swedish for stairs. Hannah is mentioned in some records as Hannah o Trappe Pa LANE.
He was always interested in the iron industry. His wife and children died beforehe did, and he left his estate to his step-children of whom he was very fond. Ifit everyone in except for a step-grandson Capt.William Luke - who had 5 children, and to another step-grandson Samuel Volans. They were probably children of Mary and Elizabeth (don't know last names). Samuel is assessed in Lancaster County in 1787, on 100 acres of land.
AFN: GVRT - 8G. Thomas Robeson lived in Adams, and also in Huntingdon Counties. Tradition says that he came from Bucks Co, PA. Served in the 3rd. Battalion, Gloucester County, New Jersey Troops;also in Col. Sommers Battalion of State Troops. His name appears on rolls of Capt. Ludwick Knolls Company ordered out Sept. 19, 1781. Thomas Robeson 7th class also in 5th Company under Capt.Ludwick Knolls, County Philadelphia. The said Thomas Robeson is the Ancestor who assisted in establishing American Independence while acting in the capacity of Pvt. N.J. Troops and in PA. Companies Captain. (Page 736 Stryker's New Jersey Official Register of the Officersand Men in N.J. in the Revolutionary War. Vol. 1 - Series V1, p. 732-739 PA Archives. Verified by National No. 411746.) Aunt Floriene's stuff stated that he died in Huntington TWP. Adams Co. PA. Will book B. Page 137. I also have another birth date of 1729. Horace has 1728 and 1811. Will dated 11 Dec 1809, Huntingdon Township, Adams County, PA. Probated 5 Feb 1811, Gettysburg, PA. Executors: Jonathan Bower and Edward Hutton (Friend), Witnesses: Phillip Group, Joseph Pilkington, Abraham Bower. I also have the death place as Huntington Township, Adams County, PA. Kings Meadow had him dying in Huntingdon Township, Adams, PA.
Headstone apparently read: "In memory of Sarah Robeson Depart. This life 13,May 1737,aged 3 years and six weeks. Isa-40-6-7-." "I once was Fresh and Fine as lovely Roses May, But Flowers must decline and all Flesh must decay."
Said to have gone to N.C. in his youth. There may have been other children, and tradition says they may have changed their name to Robinson or Robertson and lived in a different part of the state, and were then lost to the records. He may have then gone to VA. where William, his son, was born. There may have been at least one other child, as there are traditions of nephews of William.
He married Hannah Lane Abt 1725 at Trappe, Montgomery, Pennsylvania . Hannah Lane was born at Trappe, Montgomery, Pennsylvania 1702 daughter of Edward Lane and Ann Richardson .
