Notes:
Came to the USA in 1777 with Casimir Pulaski and fought for the Colonists under Genreal Lafayette, after which he married Rosanna Esterferro, a French nurse in Lafayette's army. They lived in MD and moved to Williamsburg, Woodbury Township,Huntingdon County (now Blair). They were listed in the 1800 census, but he diedbefore 1810 in which census only Rosanna was listed. A county history that one of the historians had seen at the state library mentioned that Elias was a tavern keeper. Letters granted 12/19/1801 to Rosina Rodkey and Jacob Rodkey an estate of Elias Rodkey, Huntingdon County, PA. Will Book Vol 1 page 184. Late of Woodbury Township. Revolutionary War soldier. A scrappy note that I have in the Huntingdon Library said that he was a member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church of Arcadia in Baltimore County, MD in 1794. The name was anglicized sometime after that. It was sometimes like ROTHGE. Elias Rattge Jr Posted 31 Jan 2008 by Sheryl Byrd 3. ELIAS RATTGE3 JR. (ELIAS2 RATTGE, SR., NICKOLAS1) was born 1745, and died December 1829 in Williamsburg, PA. He married ROSINE BARBARA EASTERFERRO. Notes for ELIAS RATTGE JR.: At sometime between Elias Rattge Jr. and John (his son) the name waschanged to Rodkey. Per "Rodkey Memorabilia" by Ruth Barnard Rodkey etc. Church records indicate that Elias Sr.' son, Elias Jr., was married to Rosina as early as 1771, and they lived in Berks County for a number of years. Records of Frieden's Lutheran Church, Stony Run, (about 15 miles West of Allentown near Kempton, Albany Twp., Berks Co., PA., show the following: "The first children baptized in the newly organized congregation by Rev. Daniel Schumacker were as follows: George Adam, son of Elias Raetchen and wife Rosina. (date of birth not given) baptized May 20, 1771. Sponsors Peter Hill and Elizabeth Henricken." At some point in time between the years 1776 and 1794, Elias and Rosina moved to Maryland. They were listed as members of St. Paul's Arcadia Lutheran Church, Baltimore County, Maryland, as were their children, Daniel Radge and Christina Radge. Elias evidently served in the Revolution. His Wife Rosine was a nurse and helped the soldiers by taking them into the family home for hospital care. They eventually turned up in Williamsburg where they gave birth to a son named John on September 10, 1779. Elias owned a tavern. Child of ELIAS JR. and ROSINE EASTERFERRO is: 4. i. JOHN4 RATTGE, b. September 10, 1779, Williamsburg, Pennsylvania; d. March 04, 1833, Huntington Indiana.
