John Stewart of Lack Township, lived near McCoysville PA - appointed Justice of the Peace on April 1, 1778. On a delegation of four prominent citizens to secure the organization of Mifflin County, PA.; County Trustee; appointed to meet the disaffected in the Bryson riots of 1791. Associate judge of the Court of Common Pleas; (Excerpt from the book "Col George S. Stewart and Margaret Harris, his wife, their ancestors and descendants by Robert Stewart D.D.L.L.D. 1907).
Probably the private of that name mentioned in Capt. John Hamilton's company Chester Co., PA. Militia, during the Revolutionary War. Named executor of his father's will.
After marrying Mary Bell, they moved to Butler County in about 1806. In 1820, he moved to Harrison County, OH., where he lived until his death. He and his wife are buried at Cadiz, OH. They had at least one son.
