Mrs. Ellen M. Auchey, widow of Claude E. Auchey, died last Thursday at 3:45 a.m.at the Hanover General Hospital, where she was admitted as a patient on Wednesday morning. Death occured on her 50th birthday anniversary.
Mrs. Auchey was a daughter od the late Ammon Henry and Eliza Heilman Rodgers. She was a member of the St. Matthew's Lutheran church, and was employed by the Hanover Glove company. Her husband preceded her in death August 21, 1940.
Surviving are 10 children: Norman Auchey, Hanover R.D. 1; Claude H. Auchey, Hanover; Pvt. Irvin C. Auchey, serving in the U.S. Army in France; Mrs. Stanley Resh, at home; Private Fred. E. Auchey, who on January 17 was reported missing in action in Luxwmbourg since December 20; Mrs. Fred Glass, Abbottstown R.D. 1; Mrs. Ralph Reichart, Dale E. Auchey, William Auchey and Richard Auchey, at home; Eleven grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers; Mrs. Margie Hoke, Abbottstown; Ammon Rodgers, Mrs. Charles Baker and Warl Rodgers, all of Abbottstown R.D. 1; Leroy Rodgers, Abbottstown and CLarence Rodgers, Gettysburg. Funeral Saturday afternoon with services conducted at 2 o'clock at the W.A. Feiser funeral home, Carlisle street, Hanover, with the Rev. Harry Hursh Beidleman, pastor of St. Matthew's church officiating. Interment in the Lutheran Cemetery in Abbottstown.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, New Oxford.
He is survived by, in addition to his wife, two daughters, Doris A. Clousher of Hanover; and Janet E. Deardorff of York; a son, John E. Auchey of East Berlin; 8grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren; four brothers, Fred Auchey of York; Dale Auchey of Shippensburg; William Auchey of Spring Grove; and Richard Auchey of Sarasota, FL; and 3 sisters, Pearl Resh of East Berlin; Betty Glass of Hanover; and len Reichart of Tampa, FL.
Funeral services will be Sat. Interment will be in St. Johns Lutheran Church Cemetery in Abbottstown.

Claude H. Auchey, 52, New Oxford, R. 1. died Monday night about 9 o'clock at theHanover QUarries of the bethlehem Steel Co. in COnewago Twp., where he was employed.
The Adams county Coroner said Mr. Auchey collapsed while working. A son of the late Claude and Ellen (Rodgers) Auchey he was amember of the New Oxford Fire Deptand of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Erma Lehigh, and 9 children. T. Sgt James Auchey, Langley AFB, Hampton, VA; Larry Auchey, Gettysburg; Ronald Auchey, Hanover;Mrs. John Stremmel, Dover; Clair Auchey, USN, Washington, D.C.; Richard Auchey,Eastern Kentucky University; David, Cindy and Steven Auchey at home.
Also surviving are wight grandchildren and nine brothers and sister. Norman and Irvin Aucheym both of Hanover, Mrs. Stanley Resh, East Berlin, R. 2, Mrs. Ralph Reichart, Hanover R.?; Mrs Fred Glass,, Hanover R. 4; Fred and dale Auchey both of York, William uchey, Spring Grove, R. 3; and Richard Auchey, Hanover, R. 4.

Fred E. Auchey

YORK Fred E. Auchey, 89, died at 2:33 a.m. April 9, 2010, at Memorial Hospital of York. He was the husband of Joan (Rochelle) Auchey of York and husband of 50 years to the late Doris E. (Petry) Auchey. Born February 13, 1921, in Abbottstown, he was the son of the late Claude L. and Ellen Marie (Rodgers) Auchey. He was a retired truck driver for the former Blades Trucking Company of York. Fred was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a P.O.W. in Germany during the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, served as a former Scout Master for Troop # 61 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, past member of the Hawk Gunning Club, the Victory Athletic Association and West Manchester VFW Post #7374. Fred was an active member of the Retired Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. He loved to garden, enjoyed camping at their cabin in Caledonia State Park and cherished spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by two sons, Jeffrey M. and his wife, Cindy Auchey of York and Jared P. and his wife, Judy Auchey of York; two daughters, JoyA. Spry and her companion, Barry Winter of York, and Sharon Walker of Virginia;eight grandchildren, Shaun, Jennifer, Mary, Matthew, Chris, Tara, Amy and Tammy; four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alex, Sophie and Lily; two step daughters, Karen Saltzgiver and Nancy Reath; and a step son, Joseph Caruso, all of York; five step-grandchildren, Brad, Andrea, Shawn, Elizabeth, Lauren; two step great-grandchildren Anna and Evelynn, two brothers, Dale Auchey and Dick Auchey; and two sisters, Pearl Resh and Lena Reichart. He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Major Michael A. Spry; and eight brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 KingstonRoad, York, with his pastor, Father Louis Petruha, O.F.M., Cap., officiating. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery with military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Born May 18, 1923, in Hanover, she was the daughter of thelate Claude L. and Ellen Marie (Rodgers) Auchey. She was co-owner of Fred A. Glass & Sons, LLC in Hanover, and was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove. Surviving are two sons, Melvin A. Glass and wife, Helena, and Kenneth F. Glass and wife, Mary Ellen, all of Hanover; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; and five siblings, Pearl Resh of York, Fred Auchey of York, Lena Reichart of Hanover, Dale Auchey of Dillsburg, and Richard Auchey of Abbottstown. Shewas preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Louise Glass; and seven siblings, Charles, Norman, Claude H., Robert, William, Irvin, and Thelma Auchey. ABBOTTSTOWN Richard N. Auchey, 71, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the home of his daughter in New Oxford. He was the husband of Jolene M. (Shafer) Auchey, whodied January 1, 2005. He was born March 4, 1939, in Hanover, the son of the late Claude L. and Ellen M. (Rodgers) Auchey. He attended First Baptist Church in Gettysburg, and was a member of the Littlestown Eagles, American Legion in Hanover, McSherrystown Moose, Hanover V.F.W., and the Hanover Home Association. Richard is survived by daughter, Penny L. Baker and her husband, Randy of New Oxford; son, Nevin D. Auchey and his wife, Lu of New Oxford; daughter, Tammy E. Mason ofSarasota, Fla.; daughter, Lorry A. Ponticello of Sunrise, Fla.; son, Todd E. Auchey and his wife, Ann of Sarasota, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; his fianc<6>e, Anne M. Tyler of Abbottstown; a brother, Dale Auchey of Mechanicsburg; and two sisters, Pearl Resh of York and Lena Reichart of Hanover. He was predeceased by seven brothers, Charles, Norman, Claude, Irvin, Fred, Robert, and William Auchey; and two sisters, Thelma Auchey and Betty Glass. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Saturday, May 1, at 2 p.m. from the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, with the Rev. Carl G. Harris officiating. Burialwill be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
