                   1943 0 Nov. Elected to the second justice of the peace post in Hanover.  He was the son of the late D. Guy Hollinger, of Abbottstown.

Worked in his father's firm D. Guy Hollinger and Bro.

There are 2 grandsons, Daniel Hollinger, and Steven Hollinger, who I don't know where they belong.

John S. Hollinger - The Gettysburg Times 11 Feb 1991

John S. Hollinger , Sr. 74, of Atlantis, FL., and Hanover, died at 9:15 pm Friday at his Hanover residence at 228 Clearview Rd.
He was the husband of Arlene Wtz Hollinger and late Trudi Hoffman Hollinger who died in June of 1978.
Born Feb 12, 1916, in Hanover, he was the son of the late D. Guy and Ada Shultz Hollinger.
Mr. Hollinger was a semi-retired partner in the family business of D. Guy Hollinger and Brother, a Hanover real estate and insurance firm. The firm, which is over 118 years old, was purchased by his father D. Guy Hollinger in 1911. Hollinger assumed charge of the business from his father in 1942 and remained at the helm unitl 1977 when he took a more passive role in the company. His son, John s., Jr. is now partner and general manager of the firm.
Hollinger was justice of the peace in Hanover from 1944 to 1946. he was a director of the First National Bank and Trust, later known as National Central Bank (now Hamilton Bank) from 1955 to 1978.
Former Gov. William Scranton appointed him Recorder of Deeds in York County in 1963, and he held that position until 1966. He was chairman of the York County Republican Committee from 1963 to 1978, the longest term ever served by one person. Yourk county Sheriff Olver Nace appointed him Honorary Deputy Sheriff on March7, 1972.
Hollinger donated the DeGuy Ave playground to the Recreation Association in 1954. he was also past president of the Hanover Country Club and the Hanover area Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He was the originator and servedas chairman for several years of the former Hanover Horse Show. He also sang with the Elks Chorus. An avid glofer, Hollinger had three holes-in-one during his lifetime.
He graduated from Eichelberger H.S. in 1934 and later attended Temple Universityin Philadelphia.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William G. Hollinger of Frederica, Del., and John S. Hollinger, Jr. of Hanover; two daughters Lisbeth McLane of Lighthouse Point, FL., and Susan Burch of Beltsville, Md; a stepson, Michael W. Rice, Hanover; two stepdaughters, Andrea L. Schulte of Miami, FL., and Suzanne E. SUllivan of Jupiter FL.; a sister, Madge Hearn, of Hanover; seven grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM in Tuesday @ St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet.
Pallbearers will be John S. Hollinger, Jr., William G. Holllinger, Michael Rice,Edward Burch, Daniel Hollinger, Steven Hollinger, and Edward Burch Jr.
