                   Subject was in general merchandising at Abbottstown early in his life, and laterin the warehouse business at Gettyburg.  He later removed to a farm that he owned near Gettysburg, and was a farmer for many years. He was a member of the German Baptist Society, known as the River Brethern. He married Sarah A. Diehl (B. April 1822) He was married at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at York Springs, Adams, Pa.
